TRINITY TRIGGERS
GUN SAFETY HANDBOOK

Safety

Six Fundamental Firearm Safety Rules

1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded.
2. Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
4. Know your target, your surroundings, and what lies beyond your target.
5. Store firearms securely and separate from ammunition.
6. Never rely solely on a firearm’s mechanical safety.

Safe Handling Guidelines

  • Perform a chamber check every time you pick up or hand off a firearm.
  • Maintain muzzle awareness at all times.
  • Only use the correct ammunition for your firearm.
  • Never handle firearms under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Use proper eye and ear protection when shooting.
Respect

Respectful Carry & Firearm Culture

Responsible firearm ownership extends beyond mechanics and safety rules. It includes respectful conduct that protects relationships, environments, and the comfort of others.

Notifying Property Owners
  • When entering someone’s home or private property, notify them respectfully if you are carrying a firearm.
  • Seek their explicit consent, as property rights and personal comfort must always be honored.
  • If the property owner requests that firearms be secured, holstered, or stored elsewhere, comply without hesitation.
Handing a Firearm to Another Person
  • Never hand someone a loaded firearm unless absolutely necessary and only after verbally declaring, “This firearm is loaded.”
  • Whenever possible, unload the firearm first and lock the action open before passing it to another person.
  • Present the firearm with the chamber visible and pointed in a safe direction.
Social Responsibility & Professional Conduct
  • Do not display or unholster a firearm casually or for non-essential reasons in social settings.
  • Respect the comfort, boundaries, and safety understanding of those around you.
  • Represent the firearm community with professionalism, calmness, and maturity.
Transporting Firearms Around Others
  • When transporting firearms in a vehicle or shared space, ensure they are unloaded and secured.
  • Inform passengers if firearms are present and stored safely.
  • Never leave firearms accessible to minors or unauthorized individuals.

Secure Storage Practices

  • Firearms should be stored unloaded in a locked/secured container.
  • Ammunition must be stored separately in its own locked location.
  • Use safes, lockboxes, or cable locks to restrict unauthorized access.
  • Be extra cautious when children or guests are present.

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Ensure your firearm is fully unloaded before disassembly.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s manual for proper maintenance.
  • Inspect regularly for excessive wear or malfunction.
  • Keep firearms properly lubricated and replace parts when needed.

Range & Transport Safety

  • Follow all posted range rules and commands.
  • Keep firearms unloaded during transport, stored in a locked case.
  • Never handle firearms while others are downrange.
  • Use appropriate backstops and know what lies beyond your target.
Awareness

Emergency Procedures

  • Stop everything immediately if anything feels or sounds abnormal.
  • Keep the firearm pointed safely and unload it.
